As a local food bank, we’ve been supporting the most vulnerable members of our community since 2012, and every year, we are overwhelmed by the generosity and warmth of you all. And, this winter, we need your help more than ever.

No one wants to rely on a food bank, especially at the most festive time of year. This is a time when you’re supposed to be surrounded by loved ones, eating warm, nourishing meals and having a well-earned break. But for many of our clients, they are instead facing difficult decisions, like how much money to add to their gas or electric meters or how much food they can afford for the next few days.
Family, festivity and fun, doesn’t look the same for everyone
Food insecurity affects almost 1 in 8 UK households, rising to 1 in 6 households with children. In 2025, food banks in the Trussell community distributed more than 2.6 million emergency food parcels across the UK.
At Chipping Barnet Foodbank, we see the need and worry experienced by local residents facing financial hardship every week. While we do our best to make our sessions as welcoming and supportive as possible, the sad truth is that no one should need a foodbank to survive. People would rather be able to afford their own food, and we remain committed to a future where foodbanks are no longer needed.
In 2025, we provided 7,835 food parcels, alongside countless cups of tea, welcoming smiles, and vital advice and support to help people navigate the challenges they face. With your help, we can continue providing both emergency food and a listening ear to local people who need us most.

Hope Starts Here…At Chipping Barnet Foodbank, is our appeal to you: families, friends, schools, businesses, faith organisations and community groups. Help us ensure our community feels supported, valued and cared for this winter.
The rising cost of living, high energy bills, housing costs and the wider pressures of making ends meet affect people across Barnet throughout the year. During the winter months, these pressures can become even harder to manage. Between November and December last year, we distributed 1,147 food parcels, supporting 781 adults and 366 children experiencing food insecurity.
This year, we want to raise £20,000 to continue providing essential food parcels and support to the most vulnerable residents in our borough.
