Volunteer
Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. See below for details of the main volunteering roles. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in poverty.

If you have any questions at all, please email Peter on the email above.
Here are just some of the volunteering roles available:
HELPING AT THE FOODBANK CLIENT SESSION
Meet clients and give out food parcels. Work in our cafe making hot drinks and giving out refreshments. Chatting to clients over a ‘cup of tea’. We also need help with packing and sorting during these sessions too.
SORTING AND PACKING AT THE FOODBANK
Receiving donations and weighing them in. Sorting items into our warehouse. Packing bags in preparation for our client sessions.
FOOD PARCEL DELIVERY DRIVER
We are looking for more delivery drivers so that we can continue to offer support to those clients that are unable to leave their house to come to the foodbank to collect their food. We are able to reimburse mileage costs to you.
WAREHOUSE VOLUNTEER
We need help to weigh, sort and store donated food before it’s made into parcels for clients to collect. You could help in this vital work to ensure we have the right food available at all times.
FUNDRAISING
Chipping Barnet Foodbank constantly needs funds to keep it moving forward. Please volunteer to help us if you have experience of charity fundraising or are keen to learn.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH
We often receive requests for volunteering opportunities from people undertaking the DoE programme. At any one time, we are able to offer two DofE students the opportunity to help the foodbank by sorting and packing with us on a Monday evening. At present we are full until June 2024. If you would like to go on the waiting list or would like to be put down for June 2024, please email Peter Mc Mahon, at: [email protected].
